Festac Town and environs went seriously agog yesterday, Sunday the 26th of October, 2014; as 23 Road, Festac Town, played host to the rap battle of the millennium tagged ‘Lord of The Mic’. It was really a battle for lordship.
The event which was put forth by Street Kings, a Festac based Hip-hop company, had a, I dare say, ‘madt’ line-up of fierce, wild and weird underground lyricists from the length and breadth of Lagos metropolitan city. It was venom for venom. Only the strongest survived. Ironically, that was the intention of the organizers. Plus, need I say, this is Lagos, the city where only the strongest survives.
Dignitaries who graced the occasion include the enigmatic C.E.O of iPlay Media, iPlay and his little handsome boy, Diyan (must say they stole the show with their swag. Dressed like Arab Americans, they had the attention of everyone present including the contestants). Lil’ Prince Ameen, Jay Cee, Number1, Freshkid, Luminuos, Chinex, Stunner, Like Mic, Naira Boi, Mic On, Jungle Boi, were all present.
The event which held until late night also had in attendance DJ Gucci, MC Radio, DJ Muskid, DJ 2Fresh, WIzzy P, Jay Mo, Moralyncho and a host of many others.
At the end of the battle, only one gladiator went home a victor. He carted away with lots of valuables plus a recording contract. See more photos after the cut…
