Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk, popularly known as IYANYA has finally revealed that he is no longer with Mavin Record.
The talented singer who made his rise to fame after winning the first season of Project Fame West Africa, disclosed this on Wednesday, 7thFebruary during an interview with Beat FM in Lagos.
Confirming his long-rumoured exit from the Don Jazzy- led record label, he said
‘ I am now signed to Temple music but I am a Mavin for life. It was not beef, I was there and it was time to move on’
TheTemple Music limited which was established for ‘the development, production promotion and distribution of African talent to the world launched in August 2017 in with six pioneer acts which are : singers 9ice, veteran disc jockey, DJ Jimmy Jatt, MTN project fame winner, Jeff Akoh, Big Brother Naija’s 2017 runner upBisola Aiyeola, US based singer Chris Akinyemi, producer, Aaron Monroealso known as Mr Labz, award winning producer, Tee-Y Mix and Adey, one of the hottest producers around.
Speaking further during the radio interview, Iyanya explained why there has been a lot of sudden change in his sound. He said ‘ I like to try new sounds’.
He also attributed the change to working with different producers and writers in recent times. ‘The fan base has grown; I have fans here and abroad. Some people like the new sound but some people are stuck with the old sound. Shout out to Don Jazzy, he influenced my new sound’.
We can only hope and pray that his time with Temple Music will be for the best and will bring him better deals.
